Our Values
Christian

IJM is a non-sectarian community of faith that works with all people to seek justice on behalf of all people regardless of race, religion, or any other status. As a faith community, IJM’s core of full-time staff intentionally draw strength and unity from their common commitment to the teachings of Jesus Christ and from their communion of daily prayer and spiritual disciplines. Accordingly, IJM staff seeks colleagues who embrace and contribute to the spiritual community through shared Christian conviction and practice.

In preparation for the day ahead, IJM employees begin work with 30 minutes of silence and solitude. Then, at 11:00 a.m., employees gather daily to pray corporately for the needs of our clients and the work we are seeking to accomplish. Finally, IJM employees participate in quarterly staff retreats – offsite gatherings designed for spiritual refreshment, renewal, and team building. These spiritual disciplines provide a unique work environment designed to foster spiritual growth and community among the staff and keep us grounded in humility before God and with each other.

Professional

IJM employees strive daily to achieve excellence in our work. We believe that our clients are served best when we plan strategically, execute flawlessly, and treat all constituents with utmost courtesy and respect. At IJM, we believe in setting aggressive goals, measuring success against those goals, and transparently communicating the outcomes achieved. We affirm that our clients and those constituents, who so generously give of their resources to this work, deserve nothing less.

Bridge Builders

IJM employees seek to bridge the gap between the needs of the developing world with the resources of the developed world. As a non-partisan and non-denominational organization, IJM is uniquely positioned to build relationships with persons and entities of varying opinions within political, secular, and faith-based communities alike. IJM is eager to share stories of rescue and relief with churches, schools, professional associations, friends, family, and all other interested parties.
