NPR Profiles IJM and Cambodian Officials Who See Progress in Fight Against Child Sex Trafficking

NPR’s Michael Sullivan reports that Cambodia is stepping up efforts to stop sex tourists who exploit children. Sullivan interviews IJM’s lead investigator in the region and Kao Thea of Phnom Penh's anti-trafficking and juvenile protection unit, who represents the police officers leading the fight.

Learn practical ways to fight poverty

IJM’s work to serve victims of abuse and oppression is featured in a new book named Our Day to End Poverty, set to release on June 18. The book is full of simple steps that anyone can take to help overcome poverty both locally and globally. The chapters include specific facts, resources for learning more about poverty, and menus of practical action steps. IJM is featured heavily in the fourth chapter, “Care for Our Children.”

 
Seattle Students Gather 'Loose Change' to Rescue Slaves

Pine Lake Middle School students learn a surprising lesson in the collective power of student activism

In March 2007, a group of students at Pine Lake Middle School in Sammamish, WA, conducted a school-wide Loose Change to Loosen Chains fundraiser to help IJM rescue victims of slavery around the world. All 30 homeroom classes set their own fundraising goals, and each class met or surpassed their goal. At the conclusion of the campaign, one of IJM's field office directors, Andrey Sawchenko, visited the school and spoke about IJM's work, telling stories of IJM clients whose lives have been restored. Following his presentation, the students presented him with a check for over $16,000.
