The Mission

The mission of International Justice Mission is to protect people from violent forces of injustice by securing rescue and restoration for victims and ensuring public justice systems work for the poor.

The Need

One of IJM’s core ministries is to effectively and powerfully tell the story of those who are suffering under oppression and abuse in our world. In doing so, we seek to provide a voice to the voiceless and to tell the truth about injustice.

The Director of Marketing is responsible for the creative realization and dissemination of these stories globally, in support of goals for education and fundraising. He or she will leverage his or her marketing experience to direct the overall strategy, execution and measurement of success for IJM’s marketing projects, working in close collaboration with the Donor Relations and Church Mobilization departments to meet their organizational goals. From creating major donor tools and appeals to directing IJM’s role in partnership campaigns and promotions to overseeing the production of IJM products start to finish, the Director of Marketing will be responsible for IJM’s public brand and image, and be on point to ensure that the Communications Department supports IJM goals in fundraising, education and awareness.

Responsibilities
  • In collaboration with Vice President of Communications, develop a comprehensive marketing plan in alignment with IJM’s strategic goals and priorities – and provide metrics for evaluations and measurement of projects;
  • Manage a creative team, consisting of graphic designer, web developer, marketing administrator and independent creative contractors such as curriculum writers, marketing strategists;
  • Serve as primary liaison and decision maker with other departments inside IJM on projects, as follows:
    - Support global Church Mobilization team in developing tools for church and youth education and other specialized market segments;
    - Support Donor Relations team in developing needed materials for broad range of donors, such as customizable brochures and videos of IJM work, special fundraising campaigns or marketing partnerships with corporations or other entities;
    - Support Government Relations or other executive teams in creatively realizing advocacy and public affairs campaigns;
    - Support entire organization in monitoring and building the IJM brand by establishing brand standards, goals, measurements of success for visibility and project effectiveness and by overseeing creation and completion of items such as banquet invitations, the Annual Report etc;
  • Manage the timely completion of quality Communications projects and materials, including: all IJM publications, fund appeals, videos/downloads, viral marketing campaigns, media packages, segmented audience outreach for donors, IJM authored books and other special projects with Christian and secular publishers and outside partners;
  • Liaise with Director of Media Relations in determining marketing and outreach plans through media opportunities;
  • Where appropriate, serve as the primary contact and decision maker in partnerships with other organizations and coalitions;
  • Initiate and direct cause marketing efforts in support of IJM goals;
  • Liaise with outside vendors as needed; and
  • Manage other department projects as assigned by the Vice President of Communications.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in marketing or related field;
  • A minimum of 8 years experience in marketing and managing high-level projects in cause marketing, media, viral and/or special public campaigns;
  • At least 3 years experience managing a creative team or agency;
  • Proven ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects with tight deadlines in a fast-paced professional environment;
  • Experience building a unified brand, while remaining sensitive to cultural differences and needs for each region;
  • Proven ability to manage relationships with contractors and vendors;
  • Experience in art direction helpful, but not required; and
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel.
