Children

IJM believes that justice is an essential part of the Christian faith, so we are dedicated to helping younger children learn about God’s heart for justice. In order to provide resources that are age appropriate, the majority of children’s resources will focus on slavery.

Students Freeing Modern Day Slaves

“Loose Change to Loosen Chains,” or LC2LC, is a student-led campaign for elementary through college students who use special LC2LC logoed cups to collect loose change from friends and family members. IJM will use the money to rescue victims of slavery and other forms of oppression. You can even order cool LC2LC shirts to raise money and build awareness for the campaign. LC2LC Highlights

Children in the UK Help Rescue Slaves

After a morning of hearing about God's heart for justice, and stories of slaves set free, children from Kings Church Eastbourne set about raising money for International Justice Mission's 'Loose Change to Loosen Chains' campaign. Each child took home a yellow cup in which they collected money by performing chores , collecting contributions from family and friends or emptying their piggy banks. Their aim was to free one slave with the money collected and did a superb job, raising £140 to go towards IJM's work.

Neighborhood group

Sterling, VA

Armed with yellow LC2LC cups and a passion to help IJM, a group of neighborhood kids from Sterling, VA, hoped to raise some funds, but were uncertain about the outcome of such a challenge. Would people give? The group collected change from their own homes, their schools and even fast-food restaurant drive-thrus. After nearly four months of hard work, the team was thrilled to travel to IJM headquarters in June to present Mike O’Connor, IJM director of operations for South Asia, with an oversized check and a bag of money totaling more than $5,500!

When the group joined IJM staff for prayer, these young brothers and sisters petitioned God for the welfare of the slaves they will help to free, and reminded all present of God’s heart for justice. Certainly, the funds raised will change the lives of victims of injustice – but as evidenced by joy of these children, the very act of raising funds significantly impacts the lives of those who serve and give.
