For victims of injustice, it is often the case that the difference between life and death, freedom and prison, justice and injustice, simply depends upon whether or not someone can show up on their behalf. By raising financial support, Campus Chapters enable IJM to "show up" on behalf of those who are trafficked into prostitution, forced to work long hours in abusive bonded slavery or beaten and abused by local authorities.

IJM asks that each Chapter consider setting a goal to raise at least $1,000 per year. By simply raising funds, you can bring lasting, powerful change to victims of injustice.

Special Fundraising Initiatives: Fall 2007 - Spring 2008

S.A.N.E.

Many nurses in Guatemala are not equipped to gather the needed evidence for a successful rape or sexual violence case. Because of this, the majority of victims never see justice. You can help IJM secure justice for victims of rape and sexual violence by funding a special training course for nurses and health care workers.

Student Leader: Mallery Thurlow

Cornerstone University’s Campus Chapter planned a Justice Week for their campus, during which they hosted chapels, showed IJM videos and lead a prayer gathering. The week ended with the Loose Change to Loosen Chains fundraiser, in hopes that after a week of exposure students would be moved to give financially to IJM. The Chapter members set a goal of raising $1,500, enough to help rescue one child prostitute and one slave, praying that the student body would be motivated to give.

The chapter turned LC2LC into a competition between the classes, placing a jar for each class in the student center. Slowly, as the money in the jars grew, the chapter began to realize that their goal for the fundraiser might actually be met. When the money was counted, the members found several checks and envelopes containing over a hundred dollars each. To the chapter’s great surprise, the total amount of money raised exceeded $2,000!

The members were excited to give the money to IJM and help provide resources for the freedom of a child victim of prostitution and two people held in slavery. The Justice Week was a great encouragement to Cornerstone’s Campus Chapter. The outpouring of generosity, surpassing members’ expectations, reminded them that God responds when we seek justice for victims of oppression.
