ONTARIO, CANADA – November 24 through 28, IJM’s work in Cambodia will be featured on the annual telethon of 100 Huntley Street, the flagship production of Canadian broadcaster Crossroads Christian Communications. The daily program, which has been on the air for more than 30 years, hosts an annual telethon to enable viewers to support organizations making an impact in the world. The program’s producers have set a goal of raising $250,000 for IJM during this exciting week.

The week’s telethon is dedicated to the theme “Justice and Mercy,” and will be highlighting IJM’s team in Cambodia, where IJM has worked on the frontlines to bring rescue and relief to victims of sex trafficking since 2000.

Hundreds of victims of sex trafficking have been rescued through the partnership of IJM Cambodia and local authorities. Yet there is still much to be done. The funds raised through the 100 Huntley Street broadcast will enable IJM to continue to increase the depth and breadth of operations in Cambodia through 2009.

IJM Canada Executive Director Jamie McIntosh will be a guest in the studio each day for the week. Documentary video shot on location in Cambodia this fall will provide a first-hand look at IJM’s work in the country. Viewers will learn how IJM partners with local authorities to bring rescue and long-term aftercare to victims of trafficking and prosecution to their perpetrators.

"Despite overwhelming challenges, there are real and significant breakthroughs taking place in Cambodia," explains IJM Director of Media Relations Amy Roth. "We’re so grateful to the 100 Huntley Street team for sharing with the people of Canada and beyond the great things taking place in Cambodia."

The program will also draw attention to other efforts to relieve the physical suffering of children in Cambodia, with additional funds going to other groups working in Cambodia.
