Washington, D.C. – IJM President Gary Haugen has called on the nationwide radio listeners of Prime Time America to join today’s abolition movement – a call that takes on particular significance on the March 25 International Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade, a time for commemoration established by a 2007 U.N. resolution. Slavery is alive and well in our world today. In his March 23 interview on the program, Haugen called on listeners “to realize that slavery is alive and well in our world today – so it’s important for us to not only remember those who have been victims of slavery in the past, but now to do our part to be engaged in the battle against slavery in our time.” Listen to the broadcast, read the story of a young former slave freed through IJM casework and consider action steps to join the fight. |
