IJM has partnered with human rights organization Paz y Esperanza (Peace and Hope) in their casework on behalf of impoverished victims of violent oppression in Peru since 2002. Now, Paz y Esperanza and International Justice Mission will expand this vital work to Ecuador through a new field office in Guayaquil, Ecuador’s largest city. The field office, which will begin conducting casework this summer, will combat sexual violence against children and domestic violence against women by pursuing IJM’s core casework goals: victim rescue, perpetrator accountability, victim aftercare and structural transformation. “It has been a blessing for IJM to partner with Paz y Esperanza to serve some of Peru’s most vulnerable people,” shares IJM Executive Vice President Scott Lewis. “We are thankful to take part in the expansion of this vital work into Ecuador, knowing that it will bring change and hope to lives that are crushed today by violent oppression.” The resources to cover the cost of this expansion were raised through Storyville Coffee’s “Give It All Away in May” campaign. In this groundbreaking initiative, Storyville Coffee donated 100% of sales revenue to IJM during the month of May – resources which will make a real difference for the people served by this casework alliance in Ecuador. “We are so thankful for Storyville coffee and their partnership in the fight for justice through the ‘Give It All Away in May’ campaign,” remarks Laurie Hayes, IJM Director of Development. “Storyville chose to use their unique platform to send committed advocates to stand up for people who urgently need rescue. Their radical model of philanthropy has been an inspiration to IJM’s staff and our supporters.” Learn more about Storyville’s “Give it All Away in May” campaign here. |
