Now, Paz y Esperanza and International Justice Mission will expand this vital work to Ecuador through a new field office in Guayaquil, Ecuador’s largest city.

Conviction Achieved In Kenya Sexual Violence Case

NAIROBI, KENYA – On the evening of June 23, 2006 Patrick* – then 15 years old – was on his way home when commotion broke out in the street ahead. Mob violence is commonplace in his community in a slum area of Nairobi, so Patrick decided to take refuge in a friend’s home nearby and wait for the incident to end.

The officer also began requesting money for the inclusion of Patrick’s medical evidence in the case – something impossible for Patrick’s impoverished family to provide. Patrick’s chances of receiving justice looked miniscule.

July 1 Rescue Brings Freedom to 47 Slaves from Single Brick Kiln

CHENNAI, INDIA - Shankar’s day began in the dark hours before dawn, around two or three o’clock in the morning. Every day, he carried raw, unbaked bricks on his head to the kiln where they would be baked. He and his wife balanced the packed clay and straw molds – heavier than the final product – on their heads.

But perhaps the greatest joy came from knowing the newborn baby carried out of the brick kiln that afternoon would not need a release certificate – she was born on a day of freedom.
