Andy Hein
Andy Hein is the Central South Director of Church Mobilization for International Justice Mission. IJM is a human rights agency that secures justice for victims of slavery, sexual exploitation and other forms of violent oppression. IJM lawyers, investigators and aftercare professionals work with local governments to ensure victim rescue, to prosecute perpetrators and to strengthen the community and civic factors that promote functioning public justice systems.
Mr. Hein was ordained and served as a missions mobilization pastor at Saddleback Church for eight years, working to ensure that each of the congregation's 2,800 small groups embraced and engaged in the P.E.A.C.E. Plan, a global effort to motivate Christians to address the "five global giants" of spiritual emptiness, corrupt leadership, poverty, disease and illiteracy. Prior to Saddleback, he served for 15 years as a young adults and weekend teaching pastor at Seacoast Community Church (South Carolina) and Ginghamsburg United Methodist Church (Ohio.) Mr. Hein also worked as a consultant for church leadership to develop and implement strategic plans that engage the congregation in the missional life of the church.
Mr. Hein joined IJM in 2010 to continue this calling to churches in Southern California and Texas. He teaches that holistic mission includes seeking justice for the poor who suffer abuse and oppression, and that matters of injustice are integral to the church's missional mandate.
Mr. Hein's first adventure in cross-cultural missions was in the summer of 1980 on the west coast of Africa. He believes that God set his life-path in motion on that experience to become an encourager of the church to "lift up your eyes and look on the fields, that they are white for harvest." Over the years, Mr. Hein has led mission teams to serve in 30 countries. He earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from California State University, Long Beach. He currently resides in Austin, TX, with his wife, Kellie, and their two children.
