Bethany Hoang

Bethany Hoang serves as Director of the IJM Institute for International Justice Mission (www.ijm.org). IJM is a human rights agency that secures justice for victims of slavery, sexual exploitation and other forms of violent oppression. IJM lawyers, investigators and aftercare professionals work with local governments to ensure victim rescue, to prosecute perpetrators and to strengthen the community and civic factors that promote functioning public justice systems.

Ms. Hoang received a B.A. in Religion and History from Miami University of Ohio, and she received a Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary where she graduated with the honor of receiving the distinguished Fellowship in Theology.

Ms. Hoang joined IJM in 2004. As Director of the IJM Institute, she leads the ongoing development and application of IJM's biblical justice theology. She convenes and equips Christian leaders from around the world to engage with the biblical call to seek justice on behalf of the global poor suffering from abuse and oppression.

Ms. Hoang regularly speaks and writes on behalf of IJM. She has been profiled for her leadership in the justice movement by magazines such as Christianity Today, Outreach! and Relevant, as well as by organizations such as Catalyst and Ideation. Her written work has been featured in a variety of publications, including Q Ideas, Leadership Journal, The American Association of Christian Counselors, Baker Books and the Global Leadership Summit. She has served as a keynote lecturer with Reformed Theological Seminary (Orlando), Biblical Seminary and Fuller Theological Seminary. She is a member of the Advisory Board for U.S. Lausanne and served as a Delegate for the 2010 Lausanne Congress on World Evangelization in Cape Town, South Africa.

Ms. Hoang was previously responsible for developing and innovating IJM's Global Prayer Gathering. For six years she led the vision and execution of this annual event before turning her full attention the leadership of the IJM Institute. The IJM Institute continues to incubate and innovate new initiatives for the justice movement globally.

Ms. Hoang lives in the Northern Virginia area with her husband and two children.
