Gary Veurink
Gary Veurink serves as the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for International Justice Mission. IJM is a human rights agency that secures justice for victims of slavery, sexual exploitation and other forms of violent oppression. IJM lawyers, investigators and aftercare professionals work with local governments to ensure victim rescue, to prosecute perpetrators and to strengthen the community and civic factors that promote functioning public justice systems.
Prior to joining IJM, Mr. Veurink enjoyed a successful career with The Dow Chemical Company for 35 years. As Corporate Vice President of manufacturing and engineering operations, Mr. Veurink directly oversaw 23,000 employees from more than 150 manufacturing sites in 39 countries, and managed an annual $4 billion operations budget as well as a $2 billion-plus new projects budget.
Since his retirement in 2007, Mr. Veurink has served as Board Member and Advisor to the CEO of the Dow Corning Corporation. He is also a board member of the National Association of Manufacturers and Point Hope Energy, an alternative energy start-up company. In addition, he has served on the boards of numerous companies and organizations such as The Nature Conservancy and the Dornico Insurance Company, and on regional boards of Young Life and the Boy Scouts of America.
A chemical engineering graduate of the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, Mr. Veurink is the recipient of an Honorary Doctorate Degree/Outstanding Alumnus Award from his alma mater. He is also a graduate of the Advanced Management Programme at INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France.
Mr. Veurink is a proud family man as a husband, father of three and grandfather of seven.
