The Need

IJM is seeking a Sr. Lead, Aftercare – Survivor leadership and Advocacy to provide aftercare subject matter expertise for IJM’s OSEC programs in IJM’s Center to End Online Sexual Exploitation of Children (the “Center”), especially those involving survivor leadership and advocacy, with the objective of exposing, neutralizing, and deterring online sexual exploitation of children globally. This role is expected to contribute significantly to the Center’s objectives of (1) strengthening an effective global network of accountability (law enforcement and prosecution), (2) supporting effective justice system responses from source and demand-side countries, and (3) improving detection and reporting by technology and financial sectors.

This position collaborates with IJM Philippines aftercare staff and the Global Survivor Network, including GSN survivor leaders. This position reports to the Head, Prosecution & Aftercare (once hired) and in the interim reports to the Center Director, Global OSEC Hub, Asia Pacific Region, and is based in Manila or Cebu with occasional travel within the Philippines and internationally.

Responsibilities

Communication:

  • Clearly and persuasively communicate and represent the Center in external engagements, advocacy (written and oral), aftercare expert consultations, and in written products with Center partners and stakeholders to influence their response to OSEC in line with IJM’s Theory of Change and Center goals
  • In collaboration with other Center SMEs and the GSN prepare well-organized and persuasive written products to key stakeholders relevant for survivor voice
  • Represent the Center in specific engagements with aftercare partners, including expert panels, webinars, conferences, and meetings, including for partnership development
  • Advocate internally for meaningful survivor engagement in Center programs
  • Provide regular communications to supervisor on progress in Center projects

Strategy & Knowledge Development & Implementation:

  • Develop in collaboration with OSEC Hub and Center Communications a survivor voice advocacy video for OSEC survivors to share their voice and stories and advocate for change
  • In collaboration with other SMEs and assessment staff, utilize survivor perspectives for expansion assessments related to aftercare projects for the Center Director’s evaluation
  • Provide feedback, internal consultation, and support conceptualization for Center-led or Center-participated aftercare focused internal or external engagements
  • Share updates and opportunities with stakeholders/partners and survivor groups as a result of engagement with international partners on survivor voice programs

Networking & Partnership:

  • Network and partner with IJM subject matter experts within the Center, OSEC Hub, IJM Philippines, GSN, Global Aftercare team, and other regions to collaborate on and stay updated on aftercare and survivor leadership strategy and development of offerings, stay updated on promising and effective survivor voice and empowerment practices, including related to advocacy and meaningful survivor engagement
  • Collaborate with and support partnerships with key aftercare stakeholders engaged in amplifying and elevating survivor voice, including NCMEC, Canadian Centre for Child Protection, the Marie Collins Foundation, WePROTECT Global Alliance and other relevant high-impact stakeholders to scale thought leadership, products, survivor voice impact, and for global impact
  • Advocate externally for meaningful survivor engagement by partners and stakeholders addressing OSEC

Research, Program Management and M&E:

  • Develop templates (i.e. stakeholder interview questions, checklists, assessment tools) for assessing the impact of survivor leadership on Center program goals
  • Collaborate with the Program Manager in developing, updating, and monitoring of survivor leadership focused targets and KPIs

Training and Development:

  • Work closely with SMEs and Center leaders in consulting on the development of survivor leadership to support trainings of partners, including for IJM-led or Partner-led field programs
  • With support from the training coordinator and Sr. Lead, Aftercare Development, participate in online or in-person trainings to support Center partners engaging with survivors or on survivor leadership programming

Policies and Procedures:

  • Develop a process for incorporating survivor leadership into Center programs and projects as appropriate
  • In collaboration with other Center SMEs, develop a process for conducting aftercare expert consulting sessions, developing expert consulting agreements and partnerships
  • Identify best practices in utilizing survivor leadership for aftercare expansion assessments and aftercare/prosecution expert consultation
  • Incorporate all IJM Global and OSEC Hub communications and writing branding and messaging policies, and recommend improvements to same based on Center experiences

Events and Logistics:

  • Support planning of survivor leadership and advocacy events
  • Consult with and support IAO and other IJM offices in the use of OSEC survivor leadership, in collaboration with OSEC Hub, Center Communications and IJM Philippines aftercare staff

General tasks:

  • Support M&E tracking and reporting in collaboration with the Program Manager
  • Consult with Comms Content Writer in development of written products (Op-Eds) and for media engagements related to survivor leadership and advocacy

Requirements

  • University degree in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health, Public Health, or another related field
  • At least four years of experience in OSEC aftercare
  • Experience supporting survivor leadership and advocacy
  • Experience representing IJM with external audiences, in presentations, with international or cross-cultural engagements strongly preferred
  • Experience working effectively cross-culturally and across multiple time zones strongly preferred
  • Proven ability to communicate and collaborate with multi-disciplinary program teams to achieve goals and activities
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills in English, including the ability to make complex technical concepts easy to understand for non-technical audiences
  • Strong computer skills, including high level of proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Knowledge of OSEC issues, anti-OSEC programming, NGO and government engagement in Southeast Asian countries preferred.
