Senior Lead, National Aftercare Development Training - Manila or Cebu

The Need

The Sr. Lead, National Aftercare Development Training specializes in the development and implementation of an effective training road map that builds a trauma-informed justice system and network of social services that protect and empower survivors toward restoration. This role is responsible for designing, planning and implementing capacity development strategies that strengthen Aftercare team and partners’ competency in providing trauma-informed services to OSEC survivors and their families. This Sr. Lead will ensure strategic alignment of the capacity development framework with the Aftercare system reform goals and develop a replicable and scalable training package that shapes sustainable delivery of services. This position also works across internal and external stakeholders to ensure that the training developed meets its intended audience’s needs.


Strategy, Knowledge Development, and Implementation:

  • In collaboration with the NAD and other Field Office Aftercare teams, develop a training road map towards trauma-informed justice system and network of social service;
  • Strategize rollout of existing training curriculum and ensure it aligns with IJM’s 2030 vision;
  • Modify or create course materials and processes for specific areas/topics identified as needed for capacity development of partners, including training, mentoring and coaching of partners, peer learning and other methodologies.

Policies and Procedures:

  • Develop replicable training guidelines, and processes related to Aftercare training activities;
  • Identify and document best practices in conducting training;
  • Develop and propose policies for institutionalization of the training program.

Networking and Partnership:

  • Actively partner with DSWD to develop training manuals and implement pilot and rollout of the training curriculum;
  • Establish partnership with professionals, organizations and coalitions that provide training and serve as subject matter experts.

Training and Development:

  • Effectively manage and train capacity development teams comprising of IJM Aftercare team and external partners to ensure quality and effectiveness of capacity building activities;
  • Identify training needs of IJM Aftercare team and recommend a capacity development plan, provide training and training of trainers in communication and facilitation skills and other relevant technical areas required for effective and sustainable functioning;
  • Provide strategic oversight of planning, budgeting, implementing and monitoring of the capacity development strategy;
  • Offer mentoring and technical guidance to the training team;
  • Work with the training officer to address training related issues;
  • Respond to training requests from partners


  • Conduct relevant coordination & meetings with government and NGO partners to give feedback, evaluate and recommend how to scale and improve aftercare training;
  • Represent the team in specific engagement related to training;
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing between and among the aftercare team and partners.

Research, Program Management and M&E:

  • In collaboration with the monitoring and evaluation team, monitor, evaluate, and report on the impact of capacity development interventions;
  • Document effective capacity development approaches, methodologies, and activities for sharing as best practices;
  • Contribute to the development of annual work plans, performance monitoring plans, and reports.

General Tasks

  • Participate in IJM’s spiritual formation, staff care, and professional development programs;
  • Perform other related duties and tasks as assigned by the National Aftercare Development Director.


  • Advanced degree in social work, psychology or related field is preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience
  • Experience leading the development and implementation of successful capacity building projects
  • Experience working on programs that serve survivors of abuse, trafficking, or other traumatic experiences preferred
  • Excellent oral presentation skills and experience
  • Significant networking and advocacy experience required.
  • Excellent communication skills both in written and verbal form
  • Ability to tailor the most complex messages for different audiences in a manner that they can understand and relate to
  • Must be highly proficient in the use of MS Word, MS Excel, and PowerPoint, necessary for the creation of visually and verbally engaging training materials and reports
  • Must possess strong analytical skills as well as a demonstrated passion for research, data analysis, and the insights that are derived from it
  • Must additionally demonstrate strong leadership qualities where s/he shows an ability to influence a cross-functional team and top management into following a course action.
