The Need

IJM is seeking a qualified, creative and committed professional Senior Assistant, Finance to ensure transactions into accounting software on real time basis, maintaining the finance records. This position also carries out an efficient financial support and administrative duties in relation to the management of IJM funds to help IJM Cambodia achieve its program goals.

This position is based in Phnom Penh, Cambodia and reports to the Senior Manager, Finance.


Policies and Procedures:

  • Ensure all policies and procedures are followed by providing appropriate level of communication to staff as needed, orientation/training or any kind of refresher alert/reminders;
  • Check/monitor staff advances and ensure that expense reports are submitted on a timely basis and comply with IJM policies and procedures;
  • Provide guidance to all staff, interns and fellows about financial procedures/policies as needed.

Events and Logistics:

  • Assist all departments as needed in logistics planning for events such as; trainings/workshop, quarterly/annually prayer retreats, welcome/farewell, and make arrangement for staff work-related travel.

Documentation, Reporting & Data Management:

  • Review all non-confidential finance forms and supporting documentation on a weekly basis.

General Accounting & Statutory Compliance:

  • Monitor cash balance (petty cash & bank) and providing weekly updates to the department head, monthly wire request processes;
  • Maintain, account for, distribute, and manage petty cash (record daily transactions in petty cash log, weekly cash count with the department head and surprise/month end cash count with FOD);
  • Always maintain sufficient bank balance including requesting monthly/special wire transfer as scheduled/needed;
  • Assist the department head in monitoring compliance with grant rules and regulations;
  • Assist to manage the periodic physical inventory of capitalized/trackable assets and follow-up compliance with documentation of asset disposals/transfers.

Clerical and Administration:

  • Process payment requests on a timely basis, including making cash/check payments;
  • Assist the department head in preparing and complete the monthly/year – end closing book, non-confidential finance packet including review and scan;
  • Notify the department head of any questionable activity or procedural questions for addressing or altering the issue or question;
  • Organize and secure finance files/records.


  • University’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Administration or other related field from an accredited university;
  • At least 2 years’ experience providing administration and/or finance support;
  • Strong verbal, listening, and written communication skills in Khmer and English;
  • Proficiency in basic financial management and administrative organization;
  • Computer proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office;
  • Experience working in professional, fast-paced environment;
  • Proactive and disciplined with priorities and accomplishes goals within a timeline;
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills;
  • Be honest, trustworthy, and respectful;
  • Demonstrate strong ethic and stewardship of time and resources;
  • Works well under stress with a sustained positive attitude.

A statement of faith should describe your Christian faith and how you see it as relevant to your involvement with IJM. The statement can either be incorporated into the cover letter or submitted as a separate document and should include, at a minimum, a description of your spiritual disciplines (prayer, study, etc.) and your current fellowship or place of worship.
