Claire Wilkinson serves as the Vice President of Regional Operations, Africa. She is based in Washington, D.C. where she supports IJM field offices in Ghana, Uganda and Kenya. Claire joined IJM in March 2013 as the Field Office Director in Zambia, and transitioned to Kenya in January 2015. In Kenya, Claire led a multi-disciplinary team combating cases of police abuse of power and child sexual violence. Before working with IJM, Claire spent 12 years as a prosecutor with the Scottish Prosecution Service where she latterly served as a Senior Prosecutor responsible for prosecuting serious criminal offences, as well as leading and managing multi-disciplinary teams. From 2008 to 2011, Claire served as the Program Coordinator for Lawyers of Hope, a network of Rwandan Christian lawyers dedicated to providing pro bono legal representation to the poor in Rwanda. She developed a community child rights project and a legal representation program for child prisoners.
Claire is a graduate of the University of Aberdeen, where she received her Bachelor and Masters of Law degrees. She currently lives in the Washington, D.C. area.
