After the just ruling was announced, IJM staff joined the trafficking survivors and their families for a meal together.
GUATEMALA CITY, GUATEMALA – A man who raped his 6-year-old niece was convicted and brought to justice late last week. Because the victim of the sexual violence was so young, the judges doubled the required sentence, ordering the rapist to serve 24 years in prison.
GUATEMALA CITY, GUATEMALA – Yesterday, a man was sentenced to 13 years in prison for raping his 15-year-old daughter. The sexual abuse started when Danika* was 11 years old. The man threatened Danika that he would hurt her brothers and sisters if she told anyone about the violent assaults.

Last year, Doctors Without Borders referred Ricardo’s case to IJM. The staff collaborated with local authorities to ensure the suspect was arrested, and the proper evidence was secured for the trial.
