When a young girl was rescued from a home where she was being sexually exploited online, she told us about 14-year-old Esme* who was exploited with her. As Esme was rescued, she cried tears of joy. She finally had a chance to find a home where she belonged. Both girls are now safe, and authorities arrested their abuser.
Ghana: Elinam’s Story
After two years of brutal slavery on Lake Volta in Ghana, Elinam* was rescued by IJM and authorities. When she was taken to safety, she told authorities about five more children in need of rescue. Their traffickers were arrested, and each child was provided with follow-up care to help them heal from the trauma they endured.
