What do spiritual rhythms have to do with our abilities to do good work - facing challenges, overcoming obstacles, serving clients, loving your neighbor?

At IJM we've learned some things in our 25+ years doing the work of fighting injustice. We have colleagues leading teams around the world and our Christian identity is at the core of who we are, vital to the success of our work. Our spiritual rhythms are a foundation to us at IJM, allowing us to joyfully and sustainably head straight towards some of the darkest and most unimaginable places.

Join us as we share about our spiritual formation practices that are ingrained in our culture – we believe these practices are universal, transformative, and paramount to following God’s call for each of us, in every sector in our city.

Special Guests

Jim Martin 2
Vice President of Spiritual Formation

Jim Martin

Jim Martin serves as IJM’s Vice President of Spiritual Formation. Jim works with IJM's global leaders as they strengthen IJM’s foundation of Christian spiritual formation. Jim seeks to equip IJM staff worldwide to do the work of justice joyfully and sustainably with ever-deepening dependence on God.

Prior to this position, Jim served as IJM’s Vice President of Church Mobilization, where he led a team working to move churches to a deeper level of understanding of God's passion for justice. Before joining IJM, Jim was a pastor at The River Church in San Jose, CA. Over the years, Jim has spoken at churches, mission events and pastors conferences all over the world.

He received a B.A. in Education from the University of Massachusetts. His book, The Just Church—a practical guide for churches to engage in life-giving justice ministry—was released by Tyndale in 2012. Jim and his wife, Jenna, live in the Washington, DC area with their three children.

You'll leave the morning equipped with powerful tools and understanding of how incorporating daily and consistent spiritual rhythms can sustain and even transform external pressures that leaders in business, ministry – and at home – face daily, and empowered to lead through seasons, change or stress in mature and vibrant ways.
