Who We Are

For over 25 years, International Justice Mission (IJM) has pioneered work to protect vulnerable people from violence through a strengthened Justice System response. The Ghana office works with local government to rescue victims of trafficking, bring perpetrators to justice, restore survivors to safety and strength, and supports law enforcement in building a safe future that lasts.


The Need

As we grow to expand our global impact to protect 500 million people from violence by 2030, we are seeking a Casework Manager who will be responsible for the implementation of casework strategies to meet project objectives. The Casework Manager would lead a core staff team to apply a sustainable approach to capacity building and collaborative casework with relevant authorities, supporting those agencies to apply legal frameworks to identify and remediate cases in a victim centered and trauma informed manner. This is a fulltime on-site position with occasional travel to other locations in the country. This position is contingent on receipt of donor funding.

This position is based in Kumasi, Ghana and reports to the Program Director.


Responsibilities:

  • Represent International Justice Mission (IJM), in managing the project funded in part by U.S. Department of State;
  • Collaborate accordingly with other consortium members on the grant, to ensure effective completion of grant objectives within the set timeframe;
  • Ensure implementation of IJM’s theory of change through all project activities;
  • Represent IJM and its activities to external stakeholders such as donors, local and national government entities, media, NGOs, and the business community;
  • Work closely with the Law Enforcement Specialist and relevant government entities to identify capacity gaps in child trafficking response and build capacity development milestones;
  • Manage team members providing input in specialist areas of aftercare, law enforcement development, and prosecutions;
  • Ensure all staff have a clear understanding of IJM’s mission, core values, global vision, and project objectives;
  • Ensure grant monitoring and reporting requirements are met in a timely manner and to a high standard;
  • Manage project budget and ensure due diligence and compliance with IJM and the donor’s requirements and policies;
  • Manage the development and facilitation of contextualized training on trafficking for government officials, justice actors, and civil society representatives;
  • Supervise and mentor project staff, including periodic reviews and end of year evaluations;
  • Lead in the implementation of high-quality project activities that align with the grantor’s and IJM’s objectives;
  • Ensure regular communication on project activities and progress with the Program Director; and
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in law, criminal justice or other relevant field.
  • Experience in designing strategies and processes to achieve aggressive goals.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in successfully leading and managing teams of professionals; a proven capability to supervise the work of lawyers, social workers, and other professionals strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated in-depth understanding of human trafficking and its related legal instruments in the Ghanaian context.
  • Experience managing an office/departmental budget or comparable financial management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, coordinate, and build relationships with governments, NGOs, Media organizations and local and global institutions.
  • Experience managing international projects to the highest ethical standards.

*What is a statement of faith?

A statement of faith should describe your Christian faith and how you see it as relevant to your involvement with IJM. The statement can either be incorporated into the cover letter or submitted as a separate document which should not more than a page, and should include, at a minimum, a description of your spiritual disciplines (prayer, study, etc.) and your current fellowship or place of worship.
