Thursday, Dec. 12, 2019, WASHINGTON, D.C. — International Justice Mission (IJM), the largest anti-slavery organization in the world, has been nominated in Vimeo’s 2019 "Best of the Year" Awards, in the Best Brand Story: Large Business category.
Vimeo is a video sharing platform that features the work of filmmakers and artists, with over 150 million creators worldwide. Assessing quality, variety and amount of films uploaded, the Vimeo curation team narrowed down the top businesses who have used their platform for the year.
Out of the millions of annual videos uploaded to Vimeo, IJM has for the first time made this list, and is the only non-profit recognized in the category.
Vera Leung, Creative Director at IJM, says, “This has been another year of breakthrough content coming from our creative team, and we are continually excited and inspired by how the power of well-told stories through film can be instrumental in the fight to end slavery and violence.”
Throughout the year of 2019, IJM has produced I Am Brave, La Luchadora and Esther, highlighting stories from cybersex trafficking in the Philippines, violence and abuse in Guatemala, and child slavery in Ghana.
On Jan. 11, 2020, Vimeo will host their Festival & Awards event in Brooklyn, N.Y. at the Murmrr Theater where they will announce the winning organization. The event itself will include video screenings, panels, networking and celebration.
