Mari Dawley
Rockford, MI
Supporting IJM since 2015
Mari first became introduced to IJM after signing up to be a Freedom Partner. She started to become more involved in 2017 after spotting brick kilns from afar on a trip to India and began researching more about the problems of bonded slavery. Mari has a special interest in sub-Saharan Africa and has made numerous trips there as a volunteer engineer with Engineering Ministries International. Her project work was primarily focused on mission hospitals and their infrastructure as well as engineering surveys. Mari also recently joined the board of African Mission Healthcare, a group that partners with mission hospitals to train staff, increase surgical capacity and improve capacity. She holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State University and North Carolina State University. Mari was married for 27 years to her late husband, Dan. They owned a small manufacturing firm in Asheville, NC and retired to New Hampshire where they lived for over 20 years. Since his passing, she moved back to Michigan to be near family and her father. She is currently involved in in-depth biblical study and looking for ways to serve God through giving of time, energy and resources with IJM and other Christian groups.
