Safety and Coping Strategies for Women during COVID-19

Mumbai, India: IJM partnered with the Maharashtra State Commission for Women on a publication called Guide for Dealing with Abuse: Safety and Coping Strategies for Women during COVID-19. With a surge in the number of domestic violence cases and other forms of violence on women during the lockdown, the commission reached out to IJM to create a simple coping strategy for women during this period.

This guide will serve as a safety manual for victims of abuse in difficult situations. The document was developed by IJM’s Shalini Newbigging, IJM partner ACT and the IJM Mumbai aftercare team. The guide was released on May 21 by the Minister of Women and Child Development, Advocate Yashomati Thakur, through a webinar with eminent stakeholders from the criminal justice system.
